The ShyAnn Hooper Memorial Scholarship

ShyAnn was a 16-year-old sophomore at Northwest High School when her life tragically ended on February 10, 2014. Tommy and Sandra Hooper established a scholarship in ShyAnn’s name to honor their daughter’s memory. On December 9, 2014, ShyAnn’s varsity basketball jersey number “24” was retired. Her varsity coach named her “Bulldog” because she knew what she wanted in life and was focused on achieving those goals.

ShyAnn was passionate, full of love for others, and respected as a leader in school, church and social life. Her magnetic effervescence drew teenagers to her for leadership and she was exceptionally mature beyond her 16 years. ShyAnn is gone, but the memory of this remarkable young woman can live forever in this scholarship awarded to one outstanding senior at Northwest each year.

The 2018 recipient of the ShyAnn Hooper Memorial Scholarship was Madison Motley, who is attending Texas Tech University. Madison is majoring in Biology with a minor in Pre-Med, in pursuit of a career in orthopedic surgery.
